The pop star has quietly stopped production on her Dessert cosmetics and Sweet Kisses clothing line, making way for new projects in her ever-expanding lifestyle brand. And she has big plans: Simpson's adding a line of dresses, luggage and even bedding to her current porfolio of perfume, shoes, hair extensions and handbags. The dress collection will feature a whopping 45 styles ranging in price from $108 - $148, a rep for the brand tells the Daily News. The new venure is set to hit Macy's and JessicaSimpsonCollection.com in March. "I know how a dress can make you feel so frumpy. I promise mine won't," Simpson tells the March issue of InStyle magazine. "I know what flatters a woman, and trust me, I've been judged a lot in my life. By now I know what works if you're curvy." The 28-year-old came under scrutiny in January after debuting a curvier-than-usual figure at a concert. Simpson pals quickly rushed to her defense, but the singer has stayed mum on the attention to her weight, opting instead to focus on her new projects. "I'm blessed to have so many ways to express myself," she tells ContactMusic.com. "The ability to sit with my mom and find patterns, to go vintage shopping and create dresses - that's a mother and daughter's dream. What I'm really looking forward to is jeans and all the comfy clothes. That's what I wear every single day of my life." Simpson began expanding her brand in 2004 with Dessert, an edible line of lotions and fragrances, and its offshoot, Taste. "It's like having dessert without the calories, so if you're on a diet, it's a good thing to just kind of lick off every now and then," Simpson explained to MTV at the time. "Or have someone else do it — that's even better." Sweet Kisses debuted the following year. |
