Jennifer Hudson In Talks W/ Obama To Sing At Presidential Inauguration
Academy Award-winning singer Jennifer Hudson is reportedly being considered by President-elect Barack Obama's political team to perform at his upcoming inauguration in Washington, DC this month.According to New York Post, both individuals are from the Chicago, Illinois area and are in talks
of having her first public appearance be seen at the traditional event.
"Organizers want Jennifer to sing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at the inauguration on January 20," a source told the Post.
"They are talking to Jennifer about it. It would be the first time she
performed since the murders. She is from Chicago and a huge Obama
supporter."
The two have publicly displayed a close relationship
as Obama reportedly contacted and showed his concern to Hudson upon
learning about the October fatally shooting of her family members. She
also sang the national anthem at last summer's Democratic National
Convention (DNC) in August.
No official announcement from Hudson has been released as of today (January 5).
In related news, the Chi-town singer was recently announced to perform at next month's Grammy Awards.
Hudson is billed to join the likes of Adele, Foo Fighters, Josh Groban and more to perform a tribute to famed singer Neil Diamond.
The 51st Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to air Sunday, February 8, from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. [source ]
