When word dropped about Lil' Wayne
being due in court for a DNA test, many fans thought it was for one of
his recently born children. According to reports, however, the rapper's
genetic material is being requested in connection to a gun charge he
caught in New York in 2007.
Prosecutors in the case say Wayne's DNA will be collected for a profiling technique designed to identify suspects from minimal amounts of genetic material.
Wayne is scheduled to undergo the sample taking procedure sometime today (October 21).
As previously reported by Yo! Raps, Wayne was arrested in 2007 after a gun was found on his tour bus after a concert.
Wayne has since pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is facing 3 1/2 years in jail if convicted.
In addition to his legal troubles in the Big Apple, Wayne is also facing drug and weapons charges in Arizona.
He was arrested, again aboard his tour bus, for possession of a
narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct
involving weapons and one count of posession of drug paraphernalia.
He is scheduled to appear in court to answer to those charges in March of 2010.
