LL Cool J is about to have his chance to be honored among the biggest musicians in the world when he is considered for a coveted spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

According to reports, LL's name is listed on a ballot of 12 other nominees including Kiss, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donna Summer, The Chantels, Jimmy Cliff, and Laura Nyro.

Over 500 voters will get the chance to cast their vote for which of the 12 candidates will make the list of five nominees for the year.

In order to be considered for the honor an artist most boast 25 years of work prior to the year of nomination -- a feat LL has easily accomplished.

He dropped his first single, the Rick Rubin / T-La Rock produced Give Me A Beat, in 1984.
