Music Fans have been waiting on Jennifer Hudson's debut album since the soul-singing "American Idol" alumni left the third-season show as a finalist.
Now the singer/actress' highly anticipated disc will finally be on shelves in September, according to Billboard. The first single off the self-titled, Arista release, "Spotlight," which was written by Ne-Yo and produced by Stargate, will hit US radio airwaves on June 9 and will be available for sale via digital download the next day.
"I think people will be pleasantly surprised, because it shows a side of my work that no one has heard before," Hudson told Billboard.
Other contributors on the album include mega producer Timbaland, soul singer Robin Thicke, the Underdogs, Diane Warren and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, among others.
Hudson won an Academy award last year for best supporting actress in Dreamgirls, opposite Beyonce. Fans can next see Hudson in the upcoming movie Sex in the City, as well as on the soundtrack of the film due out May 27. She also has a role in The Secret Life of Bees, hitting theaters on October 17.
