Drugs, alcohol, party: Amy’s extreme lifestyle led to her being admitted to a London clinic. She was diagnosed with serious lung problems - emphysema (too little air in her lungs). Amy’s condition was said to be life-threatening.
But she refused to cancel the two of the biggest concerts of her career. Her doctors agreed, on the condition that she would return to hospital directly after the shows.
And for once, Amy did what the doctors ordered! Although before heading off for more treatment, Winehouse couldn’t resist joining popstar Beyoncé in the VIP lounge to watch hip hop star Jay Z on stage at the festival.
Clad in shorts, a tank-top and high heels, Amy headed off for the clinic at 3am. She looked anything but happy and pulled a long face as she signed in.
When Amy Winehouse will be allowed to leave the clinic is not yet clear. But she will certainly want to be fit in two weeks time: that’s when her husband Blake is set to leave prison.
