While legendary R&B group the The Jackson 5 will receive the Icon Award this September at the BMI Urban Awards, it looks like band leader Michael Jackson won’t be reuniting with his brothers onstage anytime soon. According to the New York Post, Michael has not spoken to his brothers since his acquittal from child molestation charges three years ago. The singer allegedly owes his siblings $840,000 in royalties from the group’s hits and sources are speculating that Michael will not be in attendance at the awards ceremony. The honor of the Icon Award is reserved for artists and songwriters whose music contributions have had “a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.” The Jackson clan - Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, Michael and Randy - will receive an all star musical tribute during the ceremony. The famed group headed by Michael is credited with creating a musical style and image that is echoed even among today’s artists. As a global influence, the Jacksons are the first group to have their first four singles hit #1 on the charts. Among the other honors to be distributed at this year’s gala are Urban Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Producer of the Year and Publisher of the Year. Aside from the Jacksons, other expected attendees include Lil’ Wayne, T-Pain, Rick Ross, Soulja Boy, Ne-Yo, Ray J, Lil’ Jon, Yung Berg, Dallas Austin and Rodney Jerkins. The BMI Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday September 4th in Beverly Hills California.
