NEWS Just months after last one... US rapper Jay-Z could be on the verge of releasing a new album, just months after the release of his latest LP ‘American Gangster’, it’s been reported. The claims follow the leak of a new track by the rapper, entitled, ‘Ain’t I’, which has been produced by Timbaland. So far, Jay-Z has only released two singles off ‘American Gangster’, which was released to much critical acclaim late last year. Fans, therefore, have expressed their surprise that a new track, which doesn’t feature on the album, has emerged so soon. Although a spokesperson for the rapper has denied that it's a new recording, the song appears to feature lyrics which reference to his recent departure as an executive at Def Jam records. "I took a pay cut to become a exec/ So the next mother fucker can earn his paycheck/ And even though these n--as talk greasy 'bout me/ Ask these n---as how they gonna eat without me!" raps Jay-Z. Speaking to MTV, Jay-Z’s representative wouldn’t be drawn on the prospects of a new album. » More about Jay-Z | | No comments for this item |

50 Cent has been labelled a "coward" by rapper Fat Joe. The Candy Shop star - who famously survived being shot nine times at close range in 2000 - is a "punk a** motherf***er" who is too scared to leave his home, according to his hip-hop rival. Fat Joe, real name Joseph Cartagena, ranted to website Complex.com: "He got shot by people who he knows and he doesn't do nothing about it. He gets criticised by people like Ja Rule, little Ja Rule, and he never even fought him one on one. He's going to come f**k with Fat Joe? Are you serious? He still don't leave his house. "He's looking for attention, I'm gonna diss him. I'm gonna tell him to suck my d**k, everything you can think. I'm gonna tell him that. What does he want out of me? He's gonna tell me, 'Oh, Fat Joe, you're a sucka', and I'm gonna be like, 'Suck my d**k you punk a** motherf***er." The two rap stars have been engaged in a war of words since the video for 50's 2005 hit Piggy Bank featured an animated boxing match between the pair which ended with a cartoon Fat Joe being badly beaten. Joe responded with the song 'F**k 50' in which he dubbed him "the fakest gangster around". Their feud was reignited last month when 50 said he would like to "eliminate" Joe from the "rap game" on US TV show Rap City. The Lean Back rapper responded by branding 50 a "clown", on the same programme the following week. On his new song Southside Nigga (I'm Leavin') 50 threatens to put Joe's "brains on the floor". | | No comments for this item |

Diddy Pushes Youth to Vote Once Again |

Associated Press/AP Online
By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY
LOS ANGELES - Four years ago, Sean "Diddy" Combs took his hip-hop swagger across the nation in an effort to get young people to vote, with the bold slogan "Vote or Die." Now the entertainer has just a simple message: Go vote.
"If we want to stop the war, if we want to get the economy better, I think that young people need to understand they have to take matters into their own hands," Combs, 38, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Monday. "It is really like waking up a sleeping giant."
Some political analysts believe the youth vote could be a key factor in this year's presidential election.
More than 20 states are holding primaries Tuesday that will help determine the eventual Democratic and Republican nominees for president. Sen. Hillary Clinton is locked in a close race with fellow Sen. Barack Obama on the Democratic side, while Sen. John McCain could further cement his front-runner status over former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the Republican race.
Combs launched the nonpartisan group Citizen Change in 2004 to increase the youth vote, and used his celebrity status to raise voting awareness among the youth. Statistics suggest voter turnout among young people increased in 2004 and 2006, and Diddy believes it will grow even more this political season.
"The seeds that we planted in '04 are now coming to fruition," he told the AP. "A lot of young people have decided that this is their future. This president is going to decide their future."
Back then, Combs refused to endorse a candidate and is keeping to that policy this time around, for now, at least.
"I didn't really want to get in the political game but I wanted to see young people become empowered," he said. "That's where my attention is at." | | No comments for this item |
