Following in the steps of previously embattled artst who have been deemed too controversial for their outerwear, Beyonce may have to cover up for a forthcoming gig in Malaysi.

Well known for putting on a major show filled with numerous costume changes and outfits that perhaps leave little to the imagination, Beyonce could face stern opposition when she attempts to step foot in the region for the second time October 25.

Beyonce scrapped a show two years ago amidst opposition from local groups. While the MTV Music Awards winner called the cancellation a result of a "scheduling conflict," it was clear, at least to locals, that the singer felt heat from officials and local organizations.

In fact, in 2007, Malaysian concert promoter Razlan Ahmad Razali issued a statement, telling reporters that Beyonce must cover up if she wants to perform.

"We've informed Beyonce's management about this issue of clothes. [She] won't be able to do the kind of show here that she does elsewhere."

At that time, Razali also claimed Beyonce could face criminal prosecution if she violated strict decency laws.

Sources say Beyonce would be prevented from wearing miniskirts and clothes that "expose her navel" on stage.

Gwen Stefani, performing at uala Lumpur stadium, made what she called "a major sacrifice" over two years ago by wearing clothes that revealed little skin after activists called for the cancellation of her show based upon "reputation".

Beyonce is reported to be scheduled for an October 25 show at Bukit Jalil national stadium.
