Kanye kicks off tour with Belfast show

The nine-times Grammy award winner will bring his Glow In The Dark tour to the city on Saturday, November 8.

The US rapper and producer played Belfast last December, just a fortnight after the death of his mother Donda.

West kicked off his US tour earlier this year and it is understood the UK leg begins in Belfast, before he sets off on an Arena tour taking in London, Newcastle, Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester.

The rapper released his debut album The College Dropout in 2004 to worldwide critical acclaim. It won Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards, while Jesus Walks won best Rap Song. He also shared song-writing credits on You Don’t Know My Name for Best R‘n’B song with Alicia Keys.

His follow-up album Late Registration spawned a series of hit singles including Diamonds In Sierra Leone and Gold Digger and won a Grammy for Album of the Year.

2007 saw the release of his third album, Graduation, on the same day that fellow rapper 50 Cent released his album Curtis. 50 Cent later claimed that if Graduation were to sell more records than Curtis, he would stop releasing solo albums. He later withdrew his comments.

West went on to win Best Rap Album for Graduation and Best Rap Solo Performance for the single Stronger.
