Solange Knowles
recently confirmed her exit from Interscope Records. The singer has
been rumored to be splitting from the record label since April this
year, but it was denied at that time by her father Matthew Knowles.
Regarding her departure, Solange
commented: "Although it's been a wonderful journey and experience at
Interscope Records, after truly recognizing what's important to me as
an artist, I decided it was time for me to continue my path on a more
independent platform. I thank Ron Fair and Jimmy Iovine for believing in me as an artist and supporting my journey...and have nothing but respect for the Interscope family."
As for the future, Solange
wrote: "I am excited about continuing to dive in, experiment and
creating music and art with no boundaries, fears, or expectations.
Gonna be fun folks. Thank you all so much for...all the supportive comments coming thru."
Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams was the only album released from Solange while on the Interscope label. The project peaked at #9 on the Billboard 200 when it was released in August 2008.
According to an interview with MTV News earlier this year, she is experimenting with an electronic, moody sound for her still untitled upcoming album.
